The road of Grandes Alpes

With 16 cols to cross, 684 km to cover, and an altitude difference of 16,000 m, the Route de Grandes Alpes is often said to the be the most beautiful mountain road ever.

Cycling

Crossed by the Route des Grandes Alpes, the Haute Tarentaise is home to some stunning unspoilt countryside for cyclists, with some legendary cols and magnificent panoramas.
The villages and towns in the area, Les Chapelles, Bourg Saint Maurice, Séez, Montvalezan-La Rosière, Sainte Foy Taren­taise, Villaroger, Tignes and Val d’Isère, have installed an innovative timing System for cyclists who come to climb to the cols and resorts from the valley.
And this year the Tourist Offices are offering family-friendly cycling routes that make it easier to explore the mountains by bike.
